Building My At-Home Workout Station for My Postpartum Fitness Journey

Getting back into fitness postpartum has looked a lot different than I imagined.

Between caring for a baby, adjusting to my new body and simply finding the energy to work out, I realized that I needed to make fitness easy to access if I wanted to stay consistent.

So, I created a small workout station right at home.

Nothing fancy. Just a cute little space with the equipment I need to move my body, rebuild my strength and continue my Dream Body Diaries journey.

My Dream Body Looks Different Now

One thing I’m working on during this journey is changing the way I think about my postpartum body.

Yes, I have physical goals. I want to lose some body fat, build muscle, grow my glutes, strengthen my core and feel confident in my clothes again.

But I don’t want this journey to become about desperately trying to get my old body back.

My dream body isn’t necessarily my old body. It’s a strong, healthy, confident version of the body I have now.

I can appreciate what my body has done while still wanting to change and strengthen it.

Both can exist.

What’s in My At-Home Workout Station

You really don’t need an entire home gym to get started. I’m keeping mine simple with equipment I can use for multiple exercises:

As I get stronger, I can gradually add heavier weights and other equipment instead of buying everything at once.

Why I’m Choosing At-Home Workouts

Right now, convenience wins.

If I have 20 or 30 minutes while the baby is settled, I can walk over to my mat and start. There’s no commute, gym bag or childcare to figure out first.

I’m also giving myself permission to let a shorter workout count.

If I planned 30 minutes and only get 15? I still worked out.

I’m focusing more on consistently returning to the habit than trying to follow a perfect routine.

My Weekly At-Home Workout Schedule

My current goal is four strength-training days per week with recovery and light movement between workouts.

DayWorkout
MondayLower Body + Glutes
TuesdayWalking + Stretching
WednesdayUpper Body + Core
ThursdayRest / Mobility
FridayLower Body + Glutes
SaturdayFull Body
SundayRest

Lower Body + Glutes

Squats • Romanian deadlifts • glute bridges • reverse lunges • banded lateral walks

3 sets × 8–12 reps

Upper Body + Core

Dumbbell rows • shoulder presses • chest presses • bicep curls • tricep kickbacks + postpartum-appropriate core work

3 sets × 8–12 reps

Full Body

Squats • dumbbell rows • Romanian deadlifts • reverse lunges • shoulder presses • glute bridges

Complete 3 rounds at a comfortable pace.

Because I’m postpartum, I’m being especially intentional about core and pelvic-floor recovery rather than jumping straight into intense ab exercises. If you’re postpartum too, get clearance and individualized guidance from your healthcare provider or pelvic-floor physical therapist when needed.

Staying Consistent With My Fitness Goals

I’m learning that motivation alone isn’t enough for me. I need a simple way to plan my workouts, track my habits and actually see the progress I’m making along the way.

That’s why I included a fitness planner inside my Becoming Her: Dream Girl Workbook. It’s designed to help me stay intentional with my workouts and wellness goals while looking at the bigger picture of becoming the woman I want to be.

Because my Dream Body Diaries isn’t just about changing how my body looks—it’s about building healthier habits, getting stronger and learning to show up for myself consistently.

This Is What Dream Body Diaries Means to Me Now

Dream Body Diaries isn’t about punishing myself into becoming smaller.

It’s about building strength, taking care of myself and becoming more confident in the body I’m in.

Some weeks I’ll complete every workout.

Some weeks motherhood will motherhood.

Either way, I’m learning to keep coming back.

Here’s to building the dream body—and loving ourselves while we’re building her.
